Volcano experiments!

This term we have been studying volcanoes; how they are formed, why they erupt, where lava comes from, and where volcanoes are found. We have conducted experiments to give us an idea on what happens in a magma chamber, and what it could look like when a volcano erupts! Room 26 joined us and they made it more exciting!

Fractions galore!

Making our expo display

Look at the work we did to show our fractions learning. We made a fractions bakery and lolly display for expo! Most of the pretend food was made with salt dough (play dough without oil). The cakes were made with foam cushions, plaster of paris, and LOTS of paint! Whaea Kiri made the dough and we made the shapes, painted and decorated our pretend food. 

100 days of school!

Today we celebrated 100 days of school!

We discussed what the world could be like in 100 years time, check out our crazy thoughts!

We each got $100 from Whaea Kiri, we thought we won the lotto, but Whaea Kiri tricked us! She made funny money with our faces printed on them!

We also made ourselves look like we were 100 years old!

Making pizza!

Room 18 have learnt lots about fractions this term, some of our resources were magnetic pizzas, they looked so good that we decided to make our own pizzas to complete our fractions learning! It was a busy day of writing recipes, preparing the ingredients, setting up, making the pizzas, eating, then cleaning up.

MOTAT trip

On Friday 30th of May, we travelled on the bus with Room 16, we went around Auckland City, and we saw the sky tower! We saw people walking and people driving in their cars. When we got to Motat, there was a lady waiting to meet us. We went around to look at different displays. We were put into groups with teachers and parents, and we had to decide on a name. The lady then gave us a clipboard, she told us we had to look for things around Motat that were on our clipboards. We had to look for clues, like changing a tyre, finding a bucket to put out a pretend fire, and put coal into an old steam train. We had a really fun day, to finish all the fun off, we got lost in the mirror maze, Whaea Kiri saved us, she was our hero! Check out our photos!

Duffy show and Space jump show!

We have been very lucky to see two shows in the last four day! The Duffy Show and the Space Jump show. We laughed lots, some people got to go up and join the actors. These shows were promoting reading, and that from reading we can learn LOTS and it can take us very far.

Welcome back to Term 2!

Welcome back to term 2! It's a short term of only 9 weeks.
It's going to go by very quickly, and it's going to be VERY busy! We are looking forward to many things like our MOTAT trip to cover our transport topic. King Homeboy is returning, and Clendon's Got Talent is happening later this term, wow!
We hope everyone had a relaxing break and ready for lots of work!


Here is a photo of Room 18 with the attendance trophy, for best attendance of week 11 in Term 1. YAY! We are going to work extremely hard on our attendance this term!

The minion takeover! (Our class item)

On Monday, we performed our item and it was fun! We also made our own minion masks, we used different levels like high, medium and low. We used the space around us and used our eyes to follow our hands. Whaea Kiri remixed the songs! Hope you enjoy!

April Fools videos

In this video, Whaea Kiri told us we were going to paper mache some balloons. When she pulled one balloon out, she said there was something inside of it. So she popped it, but really she wanted to sprinkle flour on us!

Happy April fools day!

On Tuesday, it was April fools day. Whaea Kiri turned the tables upside down. The active board screen was also upside down, and Whaea Kiri kept asking what was wrong because she said the screen looked normal, but she pranked us! She also gave us a worksheet that didn't MAKE SENSE!

After lunch, Whaea Kiri dressed up as Wonder Woman and she sprayed us with more silly string. After lunch, when we walked in to our class, it looked like there was a giant spider web hanging in our classroom, as if Spider Man did it! We had to link arms with a partner, and help eachother get through the maze. For some of us, it was easy, and for others it was hard.
